Lunatic LoQuiTa
As mentioned in the article What is LoQuiTa Laughing About?, the moon phases have a significant influence on the Earth and, consequently, on us humans.
In the past, a person was called a “lunatic” if they suffered from the so-called “moon sickness”, which caused them to behave in a “crazy” way, experiencing mood swings or mental imbalances depending on the moon phases. As we know, during the Middle Ages, anything related to wild and feminine wisdom was cast in a negative light – it was demonized, and women were persecuted as “witches”.

Today, it is proven that the moon influences our sleep and dreams. The American researcher Mark Filippi has revisited this topic from a neuroscience perspective with a method he calls “somatic”.
His research confirms that neurotransmitter production in the brain is affected by the moon phases, with each phase enhancing the release of specific substances, thereby influencing our moods.
Filippi identifies the following connections:
New Moon:
During this initial week of the lunar cycle, acetylcholine is activated. As a result, we feel more inclined to engage in activities with others. This week is characterized by high energy but low concentration.
Waxing Moon:
Serotonin takes the stage. This week brings increased mental focus and a surge of creative expression. It’s the perfect time to channel all that energy into new ideas. If we embrace it, we experience a moment of joy and fulfillment. However, if this energy isn’t directed properly, it can become too much to handle.
Full Moon:
Dopamine is at play, leading to distraction, excitement, and a desire to connect with others. We feel more empathetic, responding to experiences and stimuli that bring pleasure, reward, and excitement.
Waxing Moon:
Norepinephrine becomes active, triggering the “fight or flight” response. We partially revert to our “reptilian brain” – the part of our brain that is highly reactive, among other things. During this phase, we tend to focus on self-protection and find ourselves drawn to ancient patterns from the distant past.
So, neither crazy nor lunatic!
The real madness would be to disconnect from this wonderful influence. And when you add your menstrual and ovulatory cycle to the mix, a whole new world of insights opens up!

That’s why the lunar calendar was one of the first creations I introduced to my shop. It lets you stay connected to the moon's rhythm whenever you like.
Which aspects of your life would you like to start observing these changes in?
Your garden plants?
Your hormonal cycle?
Your creative processes?
Your emotional world?
All of these elements coexist but must be awakened step by step to make sense together in your life.
Let me tell you more about the lunar calendar and how you can incorporate the moon phases into your daily routines!
