The Moon Calendar

I have been observing the moon for years. I can still vividly remember gazing at it through the window or in the courtyard of my house as a child, writing down what it “dictated” to me. Later, I realized that the moon is much more than just a source of inspiration. It is very practical and deeply connected to the Earth.

When you start following its rhythm – by journaling, observing your garden, tracking your menstrual or ovulatory cycle, or reflecting on your dreams – you’ll soon realize that it has always been your faithful companion, even if you weren’t aware of it.

That’s why the lunar calendar was one of my first designs at the beginning of this journey, as I was often asked: “Why should I care about the moon phases?”
I love being asked that question! I love seeing the expression on people’s faces when they hear this information for the first time.
But in truth, it’s not new at all – it's simply something we’ve forgotten. What I see is not discovery but remembrance. These insights are deeply rooted in the human psyche – like an ancient memory that, once awakened, joyfully rises to the surface and comes alive again.

The Moon and Your Plants

NEW MOON

During this phase, the plant’s sap is concentrated in the roots. Growth and germination are in a resting phase, allowing the plant to adapt to its surroundings and soil. This is the perfect time to harvest root vegetables such as carrots, potatoes, or ginger. It’s also ideal for fertilizing, removing dead leaves, and preparing the soil for future planting.

WAXING MOON

The sap rises from the roots into the stems and leaves. Foliage growth increases, and flowering becomes more abundant. This is a great time to plant fruit-bearing crops like tomatoes and peppers, as well as to propagate plants through cuttings and grafting.

FULL MOON

The sap is now concentrated in the leaves, stems, flowers, and fruits. It’s an ideal time to harvest flowers and produce. However, pruning should be avoided, as the plant may lose too much sap, leaving the cut areas vulnerable to infection and disease.

WANING MOON

The sap begins to descend and accumulate in the roots. The soil and plants absorb more water and nutrients, making them stronger and more resilient. This is the best time for fertilizing, transplanting, and pruning.

And now…

If you apply this practice to your own life, you’ll discover how much creativity lies within you.

That’s why you might find me sharing insights during the New Moon – encouraging you to let go, plant new seeds, and nurture your ideas. Or you might hear from me during the Full Moon, when it’s time to reflect on what has flourished, express gratitude, and celebrate your progress.

This lunar calendar is your guide and companion, helping you stay in sync with the moon’s natural rhythm.
Just like plants, our waters, blood, bodily fluids, and emotions move in harmony with the moonlight.

Do you already have a habit of journaling? Do you write down your thoughts, experiences, and emotions?
Clarissa Pinkola Estés beautifully explains this process when discussing the life-death-life cycle and how she practices it with her patients.

My wall calendar also integrates the months of the year with the seasons and the moon phases.

LoQuiTa is here to help you connect with your emotions and reminding you that everything happens simultaneously. She encourages you to embrace your feelings and learn to flow with this energy, making your life more fertile and vibrant.
